On-site support

For most critical incidents, a group counselling session (for up to 10 people and lasting 1½ – 2 hours) is the best way to support those individuals worst affected. The on-site group trauma support counselling session should ideally be arranged within 48–72 hours of the critical incident, as this is when people are in greatest need of support. A follow up group session can be offered after 2–3 weeks.

This form of group therapy assists recovery as people’s reactions can be normalised, reassuring them that they are not alone. At Wellbeing Solutions, our UK-wide network of group trauma support counselling specialists are able to deliver an on-site group trauma response session anywhere in the UK within two working days.

Once the group trauma support counselling session has taken place, on-site one-to-one counselling is available, if appropriate. This enables individuals to seek additional personal and confidential support if they need it. On-site one-to-one counselling is provided at times that suit your staff.

Critical Incident Response Training

OVERVIEW

The day to day work of many individuals and teams can result in exposure to a variety of harrowing and graphic incidents that inevitably can have both an immediate and long-term impact on those involved. Negative side-effects can include; intrusive distressing images that are difficult to shift, irritability, difficulty concentrating, mood changes and disturbed sleep patterns. Sometimes referred to as vicarious trauma, it is important that employers train and equip their teams who may be exposed in this way.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • To help teams and individuals build resilience and adopt certain coping strategies to better psychologically manage any traumatic situation that they may be exposed to.
  • To define vicarious trauma and help the team to identify the particular strategies and coping mechanisms that can enhance both personal and professional resilience.
  • To develop a self-help and self-aware approach to managing our own mental health.
  • To train individuals on how to better cope, manage and process stressful and demanding situations – both in the workplace and in our personal lives.
  • Help employees to support their colleagues who experience mental health problems.

Designed for all employees and managers alike, the course helps individuals manage and adapt to change and challenges.
